Gloria Capecelatro

June 13, 1924 ~ April 23, 2024 (age 99) 99 Years Old

Tribute

Gloria (Aldo) Capecelatro, 99, of Orange, beloved wife of John L. Capecelatro, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2024. Born on June 13, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Carolyn (Kuhnast) Aldo of Milford.

Gloria was captain of the cheerleading team at Milford High School and later on a member of the Reunion Committee well into her 90’s and of the MNO Club for over 75 years. She trained as a hairdresser but ultimately became the co-owner of the family business, Hillside Farms Co., which she managed for its last 25 years and her 95th birthday. Gloria was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and active in the Orange Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, Orange Republicans Club (she was named CT Republican of the Year in 2001), was named Caregiver of the Year in 2007 by the American Parkinson’s CT chapter, as well as a volunteer for many organizations.

Besides her family, her greatest service was to her church. Gloria was a Eucharistic Minister, lector, and valued member of the Holy Infant Women’s Guild since 1945 where she had been a past President and continued serving on the board into her 90’s. She was most proud to receive the very first Archbishop’s St. Joseph Medal for service to Holy Infant. She and John loved to travel, enjoying cruises and motor home vacations and a memorable trip to Italy. She loved most being outside in her garden, pruning shrubbery even at the age of 99.

Along with her husband of 66 years, she was predeceased by her brothers, Vincent and Lee (Marie) Aldo; her dear sister-in-law, Elaine; and her cherished daughter, Mary Lee Capecelatro.

Gloria is survived by her children, Richard (Diane) Capecelatro of Orange and Carol (William) Traester of Simsbury; grandchildren, Mary Traester of California, Eric (Elizabeth) Traester of East Haven, Kevin (Jeanine) Capecelatro of Orange, Michael (Jessica) Capecelatro of Oregon, and Robert (Rebecca) Capecelatro of Orange; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Julia, and Nicholas Capecelatro of Orange; as well as nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends.

A special thank you to the two Paulines and Tyesha who provided Gloria exceptional, loving care.
